Egalitarianism is not just a stupid ideology, it is a deadly one.
It’s sad that a new mother died with her child in infancy. What’s worse is she died doing work God created men to do because men are more likely to succeed at it and survive in the face of the dangers it presents.
The warriors of Babylon have ceased fighting;
they remain in their strongholds;
their strength has failed;
they have become women;
her dwellings are on fire;
her bars are broken.
Jeremiah 51:30 (ESV)
I know that it’s uncharitable (to put it kindly), especially at this time, to chide the child on its poor choice of a mother, but it’s just too obvious to ignore in light of events.
Ella French, like every other woman in the role of wife and mother who puts herself needlessly in harm’s way (i.e., by playing soldier/sailor/airman/marine/cop/firefighter/night convenience store clerk}, was selfish and irresponsible. Her baby obviously meant less to her than making the world thing she was a StrongIndependentWomanWhoCanShowTheWorldThatWeKickAss[TM], and she paid the price for her choice. Ordinarily we would say here “the baby is the real victim, as the child will grow up without a mother,” but given the example French would have set for the child, it’s difficult to see this is as a loss. Maybe the baby will be raised by a woman who will actually take the role of “mother” seriously.
File this one under “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”
